Chief Adjudication Panel (CAP)

We are very grateful for the time and commitment contributed by these distinguished and well-renowned, internationally experienced WSDC judges, who will work at providing high-quality judging at EurOpen. In 2018, they are:

Miha Andrič (Slovenia), CA

Miha Andrič is an experienced international WSCD judge. In the recent past he served as Chief Adjudicator at many international tournaments such as Nordic Schools Competition 2018, Bluebonnet Texas 2018, EurOpen 2017, Finland nationals 2017 and many others. He was also a member of the motion committee at tournaments such as USA nationals 2018 and JSMU Pakistan 2016. Miha is working as an international debate trainer. Currently he is Head of Education at Za in Proti (national debate organization) and is serving as a Head of Faculty or Program Director at different international debate academies (Mediterranean Schools Debate Academy, Moscow Schools Debate Academy, ESU Turkey Debate Academy). As a quest lecturer he trains students, teachers and judges at debate programs and academies all around the world, from USA to Russia, Tunisia and many European countries such as Finland, Italy and Germany. In 2014 he was Head Coach of the Turkish national WSDC team, and has been Co-Coach of the Slovenian national team since 2015.

Jana Gilke (Germany), CAP member

Jana is a medical student currently living in Dresden, Germany. She has been involved in international debating for more than half of her life. She was a trainer at the World Schools Debate Academy in Slovenia twice and has been on the CAP for several international tournaments such as ARGO Open, English College Open, Prague Debate Spring, Eurasian Schools Debating Championships and Nordic Schools Debating Championships. Jana has attended a total of eleven World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) in various capacities. She co-convened WSDC 2016 in Stuttgart and served on the CAP at WSDC 2017 in Bali. Having grown up in the Stuttgart region and convened EurOpen before, she is very excited to be contributing her share to the tournament as a member of the CAP this time!

Lisa Schallenberg (The Netherlands), CAP member

Lisa is a Dutch debater who has judged international schools debates in many different countries for the past few years, such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Morocco, Slovenia, the UK, Czech Republic and the USA. She was a CAP member of WSDC 2016, judged the finals of WSDC Singapore the year before, and was the CA of the Dutch National Championships in 2014 and 2015. She has also been actively involved in coaching debate to high school students since 2013. Apart from judging and coaching, Lisa has extensive speaking experience in the university circuit as well. She was an ESL-finalist of the European Championships in 2016 and of the Worlds Championships in 2017. The last time she was in Stuttgart was during WSDC 2016, she is looking forward to be coming back!

 

Aljoša Polšak (Slovenia), Tabbing

The Chief Adjudication team will be supported by Aljoša Polšak from Slovenia, who will be on site as the tournament's tabber.
